CISANET had the honor of participating in regional dissemination meetings across Malawi’s southern, eastern, northern, and central regions, alongside the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Local Government, and the National Planning Commission, in collaboration with the Food Systems Transformation Initiative (comprising GIZ Malawi, Mwapata Institute, Civil Society Organization Nutrition Alliance-CSONA, and CISANET).
These meetings aimed to disseminate the Food Systems Synthesis Report and gather feedback on the Food Systems Strategy and Investment Plan from district councils across Malawi. The discussions provided a platform for districts to assess their progress in implementing the Food Systems action tracks and unearth challenges hindering transformation.
A key emphasis was placed on the alignment of district development plans with the food systems action tracks. This improves coordination across all regions and ensures that national priorities are effectively cascaded down to grassroots. By contextualizing and integrating Food Systems action tracks into district plans, local governments can address district -specific challenges while contributing to Malawi’s broader goal of becoming an inclusively wealthy and self reliant nation.
